As the sun begins to set, meet the Mandingalbay Yidinji guide and journey into the wetlands and mangrove forests of the East Trinity Reserve, an Indigenous Protected Area where ancient knowledge meets modern science. Cruise through one of the world’s most diverse mangrove ecosystems, home to more than 30 species. At the Stingray (Yulu) Shelter, guides offer a traditional welcome to Country using ochre (Mugra) before sharing stories of language, cultural seasons, and traditional practices still used today. Light canapés are served, and after sunset, the cruise returns quietly through the mangroves to Cairns Harbour, with city lights shimmering across the water. NOTE: Due to a 5:30PM departure, dinner will be scheduled either earlier or later than usual dinner time tonight.

Stroll through the rainforest while an Indigenous guide demonstrates traditional plant uses, identifies bush food sources, and shares captivating stories about the rainforest and their unique relationship with this tropical environment. Discover traditions such as making bush soaps and ochre painting, and conclude the experience with traditional bush tea and damper.

Enjoy a wildlife-spotting cruise through a tropical wetland lagoon, home to crocodiles and diverse fauna. Finish with planting a tree and directly contributing to rainforest restoration.

No trip to Cairns is complete without a visit to the outer Great Barrier Reef-a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Explore several sites within Yirrganydji and Gunggandji Sea Country, where Marine Biologists and Cultural Guides lead snorkellers along the reef edges where open ocean meets vibrant coral—while sharing both the biological significance and the cultural stories connected to these dynamic environments.
